Song of the Day: Willo & niina -i’ve got a bf (best friend)

This summer, we are leaving the romantic interests behind in favour of bestie season and our two representatives are Sydney-based producer Willo and niina, who shared their new drum and bass inspired track “i’ve got a bf (best friend)”.

In the music video released alongside the single, we see the pair channeling the euphoric high that comes from a night out on the town with your ride or die. Willo has had had a breakout year, garnering praise from the likes of Flume and DJ Seinfeld, and masterfully weaves the feelings that arise when you’re at the rave into her musicianship. Both the highs and the lows are translated: her tracks often dripping in hyper-saturated melodies, yet a melancholic undertone remains that feels nostalgic and relatable. With layered productions and niina’s vocal prowess that transports listener’s to the ethereal realm, the team-up is a match made in heaven.

Willo shares, “My third single this year is a collaboration with the talented niina. I remember getting niina’s vocals back & I knew straight away we had to release this immediately…It’s a lil different from my other stuff, but I wanted to channel some fun energy into this release, igabf is all about having fun with ya bestie, dancing in public places, and not taking yourself too seriously x”.
