Song of the Day: SHY FRiEND - “Hammer The Screw”

SHY FRiEND hit the scene with a powerful single release on Friday, proving that this band needs to be on your radar. Headed by artist and content creator Jubs, this emotional alt-pop group is formed of talented musicians from diverse backgrounds who are trained in both classical and jazz. Their newest track “Hammer The Screw” strikes all the right emotional chords, giving you not just a song but an experience that’ll leave you wanting more.

I was lucky enough to be able to listen to “Hammer The Screw” ahead of its release, and I honestly can’t tell you how long I spent blasting it on repeat. When I first played this song, I found myself losing track of time as I listened to the hauntingly beautiful harmonies and the explosions of sound. By the time it was over, I could almost feel an ache from both the pain within the lyrics and the dynamic vocals of front person Jubs lacing each word with emotion.

This new single just may be my favourite track from their entire discography, and one of my favourite releases of 2024, so trust me when I say that you need to listen to this track. “Hammer The Screw” was SHY FRiEND’s first real dip into collaboration together, and I am very excited to see where their journey will take them. If this single is any indication of the future, I’m sure that SHY FRiEND will be topping the charts in no time.

SHY FRiEND performs a variety of unique live shows that are energetic, passionate, and interactive. They aren’t afraid to show their personality and get silly on stage.
