Vancouver shoegaze aficionados, La Lune, are back with another single today called “despondent”. It’s no surprise that the band continue to impress, with reverberating talk amongst the West Coast music scene that errs on excitement for what the band are up to next.

THICK have been on our radar since a ripping set at Calgary’s Sled Island Music and Arts Festival last summer and they are back with new single “Father”, out now on Epitaph Records. The track features a more vulnerable side of the band, with production by one of our indie/punk favourites Will Yip. “Father” also features Mannequin Pussy member Kaleen Reading on drums (who’ve arguably released one of the best albums of the year so far called I Got Heaven).

Toronto skate-punk roller derby band Shiv and the Carvers released a rager EP Physical Capital last October and the quartet have been stuck in our head ever since. Now they’re back with a new song (although the track has been a staple in their live shows as of late) and a new band member.

It’s not every day we get a track that references one of our favourite throwback tv shows - Malcolm in the Middle - while exemplifying indie rock mastery at the same time. This earworm of a track is brought to us by none other than Berlin-based songwriter-turned-trio Meagre Martin and showcases an emotive experience that reflects on the inequity in America.

Ellis, the project of Hamilton, Ontario singer-songwriter Linnea Siggelkow, recently announced that she will be releasing her sophomore album no place that feels like (due out April 26th), sharing the second single from the album: “what i know now”.

New on the scene, Scotland-based band Red Vanilla are making their dreams a reality, with the group announcing their debut EP Days of Grey set to release on June 7th, 2024. While we anxiously anticipate the release, we’ll be listening to their sonically heavy lead single “All These Better Things” on repeat.

The Toronto-based project of Caitlin Woelfle-O’Brien, Blunt Chunks, has announced her long awaited, highly anticipated debut album, The Butterfly Myth, and today we get the first taste with lead single “Psyche’s Flight".

Calgary’s legendary Sled Island Music and Arts Festival revealed the first wave of its lineup today and thus, the countdown begins. The festival, running from June 19th to 23rd in the vibrant downtown core of the city, unites music lovers from far and wide as they discover the newest compelling acts who perform alongside established artist’s. His credits range from Carly Rae Jepsen, Ben Howard, Nilüfer Yanya and Avalon Emerson’s breakout album & The Charm to records for Westerman and Joviale. Today, he announces ‘Affection’ along with lead single “Rare” featuring Carly Rae Jepsen.

American musician Adam Lytle premieres his new single "Highway Nightmare" via Reverie, taken from his upcoming album, This Is The Fire, due out October 20th, 2023. Known for the mysterious power of his live performances, Lytle honed his craft for years leading acclaimed bands, Quicksilver Daydream and Wild Leaves and continues his adventure with a solo debut on the horizon.

The ambitious, pop-twisting duo of Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat) and Parker Bossley (Gay Nineties, Mounties) — have returned following a nearly ten-year absence, and put simply, they’re ready for the party. Their new video premieres on Reverie, which sees the band paying homage to the drag ball scene with clips from the iconic documentary Paris is Burning and a swoon-worthy electro sound that will instantly transport you to indie-sleaze bliss.

The new single features frequent collaborator Jeff Rosenstock on saxophone and premieres alongside a music video directed by Mitra Jouhari (Big Mouth). Doom Singer is set to release August 4, 2023 via Polyvinyl.
